Marie Ceffrey
Provenance Researcher
Marie is a provenance researcher at Canvas and brings a wealth of knowledge on ways to confirm the authenticity of artworks. She joined Canvas in 2023 and primarily assists with provenance research and due diligence projects.
Prior to her role at Canvas, Marie worked as a provenance researcher at Christie's London as well as a curatorial assistant for the Bowes Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santa Barbara. She also worked as a Gallery Assistant for various galleries and as an editorial assistant for Artsper, where she produced blog articles on the arts and managed the company’s social media accounts.
Marie has an extensive scholarly background, having undertaken studies at the University Pantheon – Sorbonne in Law and Art History and attending Richmond, the American International University in London, followed by the Courtauld Institute of Art, and finally the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, where she focused on Art Business. A native French speaker, Marie is also fluent in English, and proficient in Italian and German.
