Claudia Quiñones
Legal Consultant (New York)
Claudia, a dual-qualified lawyer in New York and Puerto Rico, has several years of experience in civil litigation and academic research. She joined Canvas in 2020 and works primarily on contentious matters and advice relating to cultural property. Her three Masters’ degrees have taken her across the world where she focused her studies on art history, public policy, law and international dispute resolution.
At Canvas, Claudia supports the heritage practice in research and analysis of international art and cultural heritage law, including repatriation efforts and determinations of authenticity and ownership. Claudia also focuses on new areas of law and policy in the USA and internationally, including regulatory changes and industry practice.
In addition to academia, Claudia has significant practical experience in the field, having previously worked at the Art and Cultural Property law group at Constantine Cannon LLP, UNIDROIT and the European Heritage Times. She has published widely on developments relating to cultural property, including deaccession and digitisation in museums and a comparative analysis of heritage laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Claudia lectures in law at Legal Lingua and is a part-time consultant associate to a cultural heritage firm in New York.
